The government is running and has been running many schemes for the economic and health security of the poor. People living their lives under the poverty line i.e. BPL get the benefit of many facilities of the government. BPL cards are made for such people by the government and under this they are given food grains for free. In UP, the government gives many benefits to BPL holders, which also includes the gift of Shri Anna. Just a few months ago, the government has given the gift of millet to the ration card holders of UP.

Subsidized Food Grains: Food grains are distributed to BPL card holders under the public distribution system. Card holders get the benefit of essential commodities like wheat, rice, sugar and kerosene. Recently, the government also announced distribution of millets to the card holders of UP.

Health benefits: BPL card holders are given the benefit of health schemes under the National Health Insurance Scheme by the government. Under this scheme, health security of the card holder and his family members is ensured. Under the Ayushman Bharat program run by the Government of India, BPL card holders are automatically considered eligible for this scheme and they are provided health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh by the government.

Benefits of Housing Schemes: BPL card holders are provided affordable housing and subsidy under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. This scheme provides financial assistance for the construction and improvement of houses. Under this scheme, many poor families have got a roof over their head and people living in dilapidated houses have also been provided repair money under this scheme.

Education: Free education is provided to BPL card holders not only in UP but also to children of poor families in the entire country. Apart from this, scholarship is also given every year by the government to eligible students. School fees, books and other necessary study material are provided under this scheme.

Apart from this, BPL has had a great impact on the lives of poor families in Uttar Pradesh. This has provided all the essential things to the poor which play an important role in living life. The BPL scheme has played a major role in removing economic inequality from the society. The BPL scheme ensures that families living below the poverty line can also walk in the society with their heads held high, their children can get better education and they can get good food.
